چکیده

A plasma-loaded sheath helix supports lower hybrid modes that extend to the outside vacuum region. The phase velocity of the mode is significantly retarded by the presence of the sheath helix, making it liable to excitation by a low-energy electron beam. The extent of the mode outside the plasma is also reduced by the helix. An analysis of lower hybrid mode excitation by a beam propagating in the vacuum region reveals that nonlocal effects significantly reduce the growth rate. If the instability is taken to saturate via particle trapping, it acquires a large amplitude, giving oscillatory velocity large enough to lead to nonlinear effects.

Propagation and Interaction of Electrostatic and Electromagnetic Waves in Two Stream Free Electron Laser in the Presence of Self-Fields

A relativistic theory for two-stream free electron laser (FEL) with a one-dimensional helical wiggler and ion-channel guiding in the presence of self-fields are presented. A dispersion relation (DR) which includes coupling between the electromagnetic and the electrostatic waves is derived from a fluid model, with all of the relativistic terms related to the transverse wiggler motion. This DR is...

Computer simulations for direct conversion of the HF electromagnetic wave into the upper hybrid wave in ionospheric heating experiments

Excitation of upper hybrid waves associated with the ionospheric heating experiments is assumed to be essential in explaining some of the features of stimulated electromagnetic emissions (SEE). A direct conversion process is proposed as an excitation mechanism of the upper hybrid waves where the energy of an obliquely propagating electromagnetic pump wave is converted into the electrostatic upp...

ایجاد امواج سطحی بر روی پلاسمای برخوردی چگال ناهمگن

An investigation isundertaken to study the transmission of the electromagnetic waves through inhomogeneous over-dense plasma. The transmission is due to the excitation of the surface modes of plasma or plasmons. The construction of the plasma is in such a way that the charge density of the plasma linearly increases and passes through its critical value and then linearly decreases. The dissipati...

Evanescent wave interference and the total transparency of a warm high-density plasma slab

It is shown that an overcritical density plasma slab can be totally transparent to a p-polarized obliquely incident electromagnetic wave. High transparency is achieved due to the interference of the evanescent waves in the subcritical region. The transmission coefficient has the resonant character due to the excitation of a plasma surface mode plasmon-polariton . In a warm plasma case, the exci...

Implication of Quantum Effects on Non-Linear Propagation of Electron Plasma Solitons

We have studied the electron exchange-correlation effect on thecharacteristics of the two-component unmagnetized dense quantum plasma withstreaming motion. For this purpose, we have used the quantum hydrodynamic model(including the effects of a quantum statistical Fermi electron temperature) for studyingthe propagation of an electrostatic electron plasma waves in such th...
